IMPACT Symposium: The Art of Compromise
Next Tuesday, October 23, I will participate in a symposium sponsored by the Interdisciplinary Institute, which is part of the Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences at SMU. The IMPACT symposium is an annual event, bringing together individuals from varied backgrounds to talk about an issue, with each person bringing the perspective of her or his academic discipline. This year, the topic is compromise. We have all been asked to make a short opening statement that is in some way “provocative” or controversial, to be followed by a give and take with the audience.
