December/ In the December issue of the Just Resolutions Newsletter I’ll have a short piece about the impact of AI on ethics (based loosely on the material from the Mediate Lawsuit session). The article was published on Dec. 1, and is avaialable HERE.

December 1/ Leah, Chris, and I were featured (along with the new book) on an ICODR podcast, hosted by Colin Rule. The podcast is one of a series that ICODR does each month to highlight issues in online dispute resolution. The recording of the session is available HERE.

December 1/ Leah, Chris and I were panelists for the ODR Track 22 access to justice online session organized by a law firm and a university in Prague and the Czech Republic (PRK Partners, and Masaryk University Brno)

November/ Mediate.com will publish a short piece that I wrote entitled “How do we Encourage Ethical AI for Dispute Engagement?” The article is available HERE.

November 26/ Leah Wing, Chris Draper and I did a podcast for ICODR, hosted by Ian Macduff – the subject of the podcast was the Governing AI book. The session can be accessed HERE.

November 11/ I will speak on the impact of AI on mediator ethics at a webinar sponsored by Mediate Lawsuit.com.

November 3-7/ I will participate in three sessions for the 27th edition of ODR CyberWeek: “What is ODR?” – “Governing AI” – “The Impact of AI on Mediator Ethics.”

September/ De Gruyter Brill Publishers. My colleages and I (Leah Wing, Chris Draper, and Scott Cooper) are delighted by the release of our book on governing artificial intellignece.

September 2/ I was one of the trainers for an IMI certified mediator training course offered in India through ODRLatinoAmerica.

July 15/ Dispute Resolution Summer School – Porto – I led a discussion focused on Online Dispute Resolution, and joined Chris Draper to discuss our forthcoming book on Governing AI.

July – 2026/ I joined as a member of the Technology Sub-committee of the VA Supreme Court Committee reviewing mediator ethics and standards of practice for court certified mediators in Virginia.

March 10/ The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) announced the release of ISO Standard 32122 – Transaction Assurance in E-commerce — Guidance for Offering Online Dispute Resolution Services. The NCTDR/ICODR ODR standards for which I was one of the principal authors were adopted and used as the core of the new ISO standard.

March 10-14/ ODR Latino America hosts ExpoTech 2025. My presentation “Can AI Replace Mediators?” is featured.

March 21/ Lawyers and Mediators International Podcast – Podcast on Governing Artificial Intelligence

April 29-30/ International ODR Forum – London – I served on the conference organizing committee, and will speak on AI governance at the conference.

December 5/ Technology and Mediation. I will do a one hour online presentation on technology and mediation for attendees at a sessiion in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

December 2-6/ CyberWeek 2024. I will participate in the opening session (What’s Going On in ODR?), an update on the progress for a new home for the International Journal of ODR, and the closing session (Where to Next for ODR?).

November 8/ Nebraska Mediation Association. I will do a one hour lecture discussion online for the Nebraska Mediation Association on the topic of the impact of AI on the practice of mediation.

November 5-6| ODR Expo Tech (Argentina). I will do a short video commentary on the application of artificial intelligence to mediation and other forms of dispute resolution.

October 20/ Mediate.com University has now posted my online ethics course.

October 20/ George Mason University, Carter School. Julia and I will give guest lectures to a class of stuents from the graduate school of dispute resolution. I will talk about issues involving technology and peacebuilding/dispute resolution.

October/ Rougtedge publishers (UK). I have been asked to serve as a reviewer for a book proposal addressing design of online dispute resolution systems for commerce and the law.

September 20/ AI: To Use or Not To Use. I held a session with the CAO mediators at the World Bank to discuss new technology, particularly AI, as it might apply to their work as mediators around the world.

August – December/ Southern Methodist University – Directed Study in Online Dispute Resolution.

August 29| Singapore Convention on Mediation Forum. I will speak as part of a panel discussing new trends in mediation internationally. My focus will be on the UDPM, the Universal Disclosure Protocol for Mediation.

August 28| Kazakhstan Mediation Program. I will speak as part of a delegation from the Northern Virginia Mediation Service (NVMS). I will address The Evolving Landscape in ADR – New Technology.

July 18| Catolica U. Law School. I will be a guest speaker for the “Summer School in Mediation” – on this date I will discuss Online Dispute Resolution (ODR).
