
From 1978 through 1990 Daniel was an Assistant Professor and an Administrative Faculty Member at George Mason Univertsity, in Fairfax, Virginia.

From 2012 through 2025, Daniel was an adjunct professor in the graduate Dispute Resolution program at Southern Methodist University, in Dallas, Texas. For one year, 2015-2016, he was a full time Clinical Professor at SMU.

With Colin Rule, Daniel designed the online dispute resolution course for the Master’s degree at Creighton, and from 2012 through 2015, he taught that course. The ODR course at Creighton was the first required course on technology and dispute resolution in a US graduate program.

With colleagues from the National Mediation Board, Daniel designed the dispute resolution program at Dominican University, in Chicago. Beginning in 2013 and continuing through his tenure at the NMB in 2016 he taught courses in mediation for Creighton.

From 2015 through 2017, Daniel taught an ODR course for the McGeorge School of Law at The University of the Pacific, in Sacramento, California.

In 2005, Daniel taught taught the first university online dispute resolution course in the world, a course designed and originally taught by Ethan Katsh.
